Belles of the Ball! - Special Introduction
Dear friends,
I'm back with more adorable cuteness, this time in a shorter post than last time round as there are a couple of things I'm scrambling to get done while also publishing this. (The holidays are drawing to a close, so I'm maximising the limited time I have until school starts again!)
On a side note, I've already received several suggestions for yarns I should review next. I'm already shopping around for them and I can't wait to try them all out!
I thought I'd begin the amigurumi chapter of 2022 with two gorgeous beauties I whipped up in the holidays. I was quite busy in the weeks leading up to Christmas till just about last week, when I decided to take a short break from crochet/sewing. Every crocheter knows: if you don't take some time for yourself in between bursts of intense crafting, you can lose that drive and motivation real quick!
Anyway, this is a slightly delayed post since these two dolls have been sitting in my basket for a good 3+ weeks, but better late than never!
I purposely waited on publishing this one because I wanted to find some cute backdrops for nice photos. I tried a few in my boring backyard which I really didn't like, but one day we took a trip to the foreshore and I snapped some pretty photos while I was there...and voila!
(These aren't the only dolls I made over the break: there are a couple more who've just got to wait for some nice backgrounds before I post them :))
Anyway, for now, I'm so excited to welcome you to...Belle and Alice!!! 💛💙
They were both made from ChiaCrafts' free patterns for Belle and Alice in Wonderland (link to her ravelry pattern store is here), and I fell in love with her adorable design for the dolls' bodies and the tiny, intricate details of each character! She's put so much hard work and time into designing each of these lovelies and I can say, it's definitely a wonderful experience for any crocheter looking for a satisfying project to work through! (Don't rush though, I got burnt out trying to finish Belle on the clock)
While I wouldn't recommend her patterns to beginners or those who've never done amigurumi before, her doll series should be a breeze for any intermediate/advanced crocheter out there.
And the finished product pays off for all the finicky tiny parts you have to work with! (They're challenging, but I find that pinning each one in place precisely where I want it and sewing them carefully is strangely calming.) It pays to take your time and don't rush the process, because you end up with a better looking doll than if you rushed and tried to get it over and done with. (I speak from experience, so don't try it and take my advice!)
Enjoy their cuteeee facial features, the details on their dresses and the overall charm of this doll design! It's slightly more complicated than my previous dolls (who don't have facial embroidery and had a simpler face/body design), but I'm loving the extra flair it gives to the finished doll!
But enough talking, let's get to the photos!
