Summer Wrapup - All my holiday makes!
Hey everyone,
Happy Australia Day! 😝
These last seven weeks have been full of the beach, camping and crochet! Plus, because we've had to shut down stalls for now because of COVID, I've had some extra time on my hands to try out some more complicated creations.
I've already announced 3 of these projects in previous posts: my scarf project (which doubled as a yarn review) and two dolls, Alice in Wonderland and Belle (which you can read about in this post). However, I'm excited to share that I've got more to add to the list!
Remember how I hinted in my last post that I wasn't done with my princess dolls? Well, wait no longer - they're here!
This collection of photos (no particular order ) details all the new crochet projects that I've successfully wrapped this summer. I've included captions for each photo explaining a little bit more about each of them.
So, take your time and enjoy the show!
(P.S. I've included a few helpful links below the photos, for your support and benefit :))

Belle of the Ball! (Looking for her Beast while also enjoying the sun :))

It was a wonderful day at the foreshore for taking photos, so here we are!

Alice in her Wonderland, dreaming a few wonderful sunshiney dreams!

Again, I took this photo at a lovely foreshore, the same as Belle :)

Here's Alice's friend the White Queen, staring out at her kingdom from her sparkly perch.
Notice her pretty cream-coloured curls - she arranged them just for the shot!

Ariel: Mermaid Version (outfit #1)
Last doll of the holidays! Pattern by chiacrafts.
She actually has legs, the tail is just a tube that she slips into.
All the Ariel photos were taken at the beach, just today!

Ariel: Princess Gown Version (outfit #2)
She looks so elegant and dressed up, but not too posh for a day at the seaside with all her land-faring companions! (I thought of adding a crown to this outfit, should I?)
I love how she's so suitable for dress-up games as she's got multiple outfits that can be easily swopped onto her!

Ariel: Seaside Dress Version (outfit #3)
Here she is in (IMO) her cutest outfit, a shorter dress with a big bow to match.
This is her famous outfit from the "Kiss the Girl" scene in the movie, perfect for a romantic boat ride with her prince! (Where is he, by the way?)

Group shot on the night Ariel was finished! Any ideas for the next few princesses?

A cute side project during my amazing Esperance trip (see the beautiful Lucky Bay in the background?)
I made this chubby angel for Christmas and got back in time for him to sit cosily on the tree! Although his outfit seemed a little too cosy for a 40-degree day.

I talked about this scarf a looot during my yarn review post on Caron Baby Cakes, so I won't add too much except for saying that I tried using it but had to take it off cause it is the middle of summer, you know. (hehe)

Same here with this cute basket - I pretty much covered all of it in my Moda Vera Mega Tweed yarn review, but a quick update is that I've been using it steadily for my WIPs and some finished projects, and it's proving a great help for me to keep my space tidy!

Thanks for reading!

theyre all so cute! thank you for the links, would you recommend sweet softies or chiacrafts more for beginners? I looked at chiacrafts and her patterns seem really hard compared to sweet softies.
ReplyDeleteHi there! I would definitely say Chiara's (chiacrafts) patterns generally take a bit more time and skill to execute than Jade's (Sweet Softies). Chiara mainly designs very detailed, smaller dolls which contain lots of small crocheted parts and a lot of sewing sometimes!
DeleteJade's are a little simpler, but still very rewarding and I like the soft classic look with no frills sometimes. I love their two different styles enormously, even though they're quite different. However, I would still say that Jade's patterns are easier for beginners. When you've got the hang of crocheting and sewing tiny details, Chiara's will provide a wonderful experience!
